How to Solder SMD Device – Fast Drag!

The most efficient way to solder SMD components is drag soldering, if you get familiar with this technique, you can solder just with your electric iron and colophony.

For the electric iron, it’s better to use flat surface header, and it’s also good to use soldering station if you are going to solder SMD components which need to avoid static electricity.

You can use colophony to remove the tin solder on the solder head and leave it on the head as a auxiliary or booster.

First, place the SMD components the Pad of PCB.

Find the position and press on it!

Use solder wires to solder any pins in order to fix the chip.

Solder four sides

Add more to the head of the chip.

That’s how it looks like.

Now turn the PCB board 45 degree, you can image when you heat up the tin solder it will flow down.

Put the soldering header into the colophony, remove the extra solder from the header. The colophony also help the solder moves better.

Put header which has colophony on the pins and move quickly.

Now it the important point, move your soldering header as follow.

Repeat it again and you can get the following effort.

The other method is putting the soldering wire on the pins and then pressing the tip into the line of wire.
