PCBA: The Simplest Surface-Mount Soldering Solution – Hot Air Soldering

I never want to use the oven to solder any surface mount devices and boards any more, the oven is only for roasting chicken wings! There is a much more simple solution for this, you can get a professional hot air soldering station with a normal soldering iron as extra function, see the image below, hot air gun is on the left and soldering iron is on the right. A hot air gun can solve all the problems for your SMD soldering. It’s more easy and more profession.

It’s easy, just put the solder paste on the pads of SMD components, and then carefully place the components on them, point the hot air gun onto it for a few seconds, then it’s now. See this video, how to do it exactly. There are some more tutorials about how to DIY stencil and easily put the paste on with toothpick.

This hot air soldering don’t require very precisely place the solder paste, you can simply put a bunk on a few pads and let them reflow when the hot air comes.

Dude, get a pair of tweezers! It pains me to watch you push the components around with a screwdriver.

The oven method is also a bit more heat stable.
